Priene Ancient City

Our tour begins with a drive from Izmir to the Aydın Province, where we first visit the ancient city of Priene. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Mycale, this former coastal city is now an inland archaeological site. Priene was known for its remarkable Hellenistic architecture, well-planned urban layout, and cultural significance.

During your visit, you will explore the beautifully preserved Theatre, as well as the city’s former political, cultural, commercial, and religious districts — including the Temple of Athena, sanctuaries dedicated to Zeus and Demeter, and the ancient agora. Your guide will bring the history of this small but fascinating Greek city to life.

Miletus

Next, we continue to Miletus, once one of the most powerful and wealthiest Greek cities before the Persian invasion of the 6th century BC. Located near the mouth of the Maeander River, Miletus played a central role in ancient philosophy, science, and trade.

At this impressive site, you will visit landmarks such as the Nymphaeum, Bouleuterion, Faustina Baths, and a historic mosque that reflects later cultural influences on the region. Your guide will explain the evolution of Miletus through the Neolithic, Bronze Age, and Classical periods.

Didyma

Our final stop is the ancient sanctuary of Didyma, famous for its magnificent Temple of Apollo and its renowned oracle. In antiquity, Didyma was one of the most significant sacred sites of the Greek world. You will explore the grand remains of the Hellenistic Temple of Apollo, as well as the nearby structures such as a Greek theatre and other recently uncovered parts of this impressive sanctuary.

This tour offers an exceptional journey through three iconic sites of ancient Ionia, combining mythology, architecture, and history in a single day.

At the end of the tour, transfer back to your hotel or Izmir Airport.
