Ferry Ride Across the Gulf of Izmir
We begin our tour by boarding the ferry at Bostanlı Pier, enjoying a scenic cruise across the Gulf of Izmir. As we sail toward the city center, our guide will share fascinating insights about Izmir’s history, geography, and cultural significance.
Konak & Walking Tour of Historical Center
After disembarking at Pasaport Pier, we explore the heart of the city on foot. Our walking tour covers Konak Square, the iconic Clock Tower, Kemeraltı Bazaar, and the Agora of Smyrna—an impressive Roman-era marketplace with Greek origins. These sites offer a rich glimpse into Izmir’s layered heritage and daily life over the centuries.
Agora of Smyrna
We reunite with our vehicle at the Agora and continue our journey through the city. Originally built by the Greeks in the 4th century BC and later rebuilt by Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the agora is now part of The Historical Port City of Izmir, on UNESCO’s Tentative List.
Izmir Culture and Art Factory (Archaeology Section)
Next, we visit the Izmir Culture and Art Factory, specifically the archaeology section. Here, you'll discover artifacts from the Bronze Age and the Greek and Roman periods—including busts, statues, tools, and everyday items that shed light on the region's ancient civilizations.
Historical Elevator (Asansör)
Our final stop is the Historical Elevator (Asansör) in the Karataş district. Built in 1907 by Nesim Levi Bayraklıoğlu, it was originally constructed to connect two levels of the neighborhood. Today, the restored elevator offers stunning views from its upper terrace, and the charming Darío Moreno Street leading to it adds to the experience.
At the end of the tour, we return you comfortably to your hotel or the Izmir Airport.
